Clever Girls Collective asked me to the answer the question, “What is the best gift you ever gave?”
Answering this question is much harder than it seems. I feel the best gift I ever gave was the gift of “security” to my children. I don’t mean security in the sense of securing your home or car. I mean security in the sense of my children feeling and knowing that they are secure with me, as their mother and parent. Security that they can come to me with anything - any question or problem, no matter how hard the question is to answer or the problem is to solve.
So many folks believe they have to get their children the biggest or best each year, not only at the holidays, but all year round! I think if the majority of parents would just sit back and think about what is most important. Is it the money you spent OR the time you spent? I know, I know - we are all busy! But there should never be a time that a parent is too busy to stop and listen to their child. They need an ear - and they need more of those ears the older they get. The problems get bigger and harder to solve. But, if they know you are always there to help them, whether it be by listening or lending a helping hand, they will always feel “security” in their parents love. I don’t know about you, but if I were to lose everything today, I know without a doubt, that my children feel love and security!
So, how about you? What is the best gift you ever gave? By the way, it doesn’t have to be as “deep” as mine - it actually can be a nice, big, shiny ring!
