Heelys And a 46 Yr Old? Yep, I Did It!
What was my absolute favorite thing to do when I was a young girl? Skate of course!! It all started with those old silver skates that I had to attach to my tennis shoes - you know the ones (if you are old like me!) - they didn’t turn well, slid apart all the time and would bend at the drop of a hat. And then, WOW - when I was around 8-9 years old, I got a pair of those beautiful white, outdoor boot skates. I could fly down the sidewalks and driveways, twirl around and act like an ice skater and fall down rather violently - but oh, how I loved them!
My skating fascination moved into my teens where the roller rink was the hang out every weekend. I started speed skating and racing, and believe it or not, I was the one to beat! Fun times for sure! No wonder most children in those days didn’t have a weight issue - what fantastic exercise skating is! I even tried the in-line skates as an adult, however, I wasn’t nearly as nimble on my feet as I used to be and failed miserably.
So, what in the world was I thinking when I volunteered to test out Heelys? I’m a 46 yr old woman with 7 kids! Am I crazy?! Yes, actually I am

I loved, loved the way they looked. Cute with or without the wheels, I can where these around town, and look fashionable. I laced them up and off I went on my new “skates”! Maybe I was a bit cocky, but I thought this would be easy. We super women sometimes forget that there are actually things in life we can’t do effortlessly - hahaha. Once I took a few rounds on the kitchen floor, I decided I would try my luck in the driveway. I actually did very, very good and was surprised that I still had a little agility. But easy, not for me, but for kids, this would be a snap!
They were super fun, very comfortable and functional at the same time. I really enjoyed them, but I will probably stick to wearing them as just shoes! Although, when I’m feeling a bit fun, I’m sure I will whip out those wheels and head down the driveway a few more times. Think the postman will laugh at me when he sees me coming?!
I would definitely recommend these if you are looking for a great gift because you can choose from so many styles and colors for any personality. Super cute and super quality - you can’t beat that!
