TEK-S Personal Safety Training Course Review

I was given the opportunity by TEK-S Training Company to complete and review a Personal Safety course online.  I have to say - I was impressed!  I am a huge “training” critic because training is my background.  I’ve trained everyone from a room full of children to an auditorium full of adults.  I’ve also helped write online curriculum, so I definitely know something good when I see it!

TEK-S training courses are designed by subject matter experts from the military’s Special Forces, the highest ranks of law enforcement, and D.E.A. personnel.  These courses are designed specifically to help men, women and teens remain safe at home and out-and-about.

TEK·S aims to help reduce anxiety and dread about unfamiliar places and surroundings by providing situational awareness education and training. This training also focuses on providing strategies that will help you become safer, regardless of where you find yourself and heighten your situational awareness when you find yourself in familiar settings, both passive and active, knowing that disregard for familiar surroundings can be every bit as dangerous as the unfamiliar.

The course I took was “Be Aware. Be Strategic. Be Safe! A Foundation Course for Personal Safety”.  After a Pre Course Assessment and Overview of the company and products, the course continues and covers the following topics:

  • Developing a Safety Mindset
    • Respecting your Intuition
    • Understanding what puts you at risk
  • Adopting Safety Measures
    • Understanding the Victim selection process
    • Avoiding Attack Situations
    • Dealing With Attack Situations

I have 3 girls, and I’ve always taught them about respecting their intuition in all situations. By taking this course, I found out I was correct in telling them that!  If it feels wrong, then chances are, it is.  Whether its the situation you’ve put yourself into or the person you choose to spend time with - always respect what that inner voice tells you!

You would be surprised at the little things you do each day that make you “that perfect victim”.  There is a very specific way that criminals go about choosing their victims - usually they are vulnerable in some way.  Whether it be walking alone at night, or not paying attention to your surroundings in a lit, crowded parking lot.  You can become a victim right in front of others if you aren’t aware at all times.

Despite your best efforts, you may at some point find yourself as the victim.  I learned a lot about dealing with the situation as it is happening.  Knowing how to react to different situations can really mean the difference between life and death.

I have to say, I really enjoyed this course and learned so much.  I highly recommend it - in fact, I will be making my daughters watch it tonight!  It really is important to know what you can do to keep from becoming a victim and also, how to handle situations!

Take a look at their website and check out all the courses they have available. Chances are, you will find one perfectly suited for you or your business!

I received a free course in return for my review, but the opinions expressed are solely my own.
