Banquet Fruit Pies Review

I was given the opportunity by MomCentral.com to try out the new Banquet Fruit pies - and boy was I not disappointed!  But first,  a little background on the company!

For 50 years, Banquet has been making the familiar foods that families love. From Salisbury steak to crispy fried chicken and turkey pot pies to chicken breast tenders, you can always count on Banquet to provide consistently good taste at a great value.  Pot pies are one of the first things I remember learning how to make on my own - so my love of Banquet foods goes way back!

The Banquet brand began in 1953 with the introduction of frozen meat pies. Banquet frozen dinners first hit store shelves in 1955. The ’70s brought several different fried chicken offerings. Most recently, Banquet launched Homestyle Bakes and Dessert Bakes, and the brand revolutionized convenient, family-style cooking with the introduction of Banquet Crock-Pot Classics in 2004.

Now, back to the review.  Let me start by saying that I love apple pie!  I’m very finicky about it as well, so when I was approached to write a review, I was a bit hesitant.  Apple pie should have just the right combination of sugar and pices and not be too sweet.  It should also have a flakey crust on the top AND bottom. 

First and foremost, I did have a bit of a time finding the pies in the grocery store.  They were not situated with the full frozen pies, but located with other Banquet products like the pot pies.  Make sure you look in both places or you may miss them!

So here we go - I’m actually going to try a frozen apple pie - something I’ve never tried because I assumed I wouldn’t like them.  I cooked this just like a pot pie, it took almost 30 minutes in my oven.  While it was cooking, the whole top level of my house smelled soooooooo good - like I was baking homemade!  After baking, I would suggest you let it sit for about 5 minutes before you try eating it - they are super hot when you break the crust. 

This pie had a super crispy and flakey crust on top - buttery tasting and yummy.  There were large chunks of apple and no mush on the inside.  As much as I love pie, I rarely bake them because I’m a super busy mom of 7 kids.  I’m also the only one in the house that will eat pie - yep, the only one!  Baking a whole pie just doesn’t make sense, but with these new single serve Banquet pies, I can now have my pie and eat it too so to speak …hahaha

I highly recommend you stock up on these pies as they are fairly inexpensive and would be a great treat to have around when that sweet tooth strikes!
