If you are new to coupon collecting, the lingo can be confusing! What the heck are they talking about? Well, here is a little cheat sheet to help you out a bit! If there are any I’ve missed, please let me know.
- Blinky Q – Coupon dispensers at grocery/drug stores with the blinking lights
- BOGO – Buy One Get One Free
- Catalina – This is a coupon that typically comes out of a separate machine at the grocery store – they are usually specific to THAT store
- CRT – Cash Register Tape (Scan your card at the CVS price check scanner)
- ESQ – Walgreens EasySaver Catalog Coupon
- ECB – Extra Care Bucks – CVS “money” printed on receipts to be used like cash in store
- ESR – EasySaver Rebate (found at Walgreens)
- FAV – Free after Rebate
- Hang Tag (sometimes referred to as HT) – this is a tag that is hanging around a product that says something like “Try this Free” or “Buy this Get X product Free”
- IPQ (Sometimes referred to as IP) – Internet Printable Coupon
- MFR – Manufacturer Coupon
- OOP – Out of Pocket – actual cash paid
- Peelie – Peelable coupon located on packages
- Q – Coupon
- RR – Register Reward – Walgreen’s “money” printed on receipts to be used like cash in store
- RP – Red Plum – coupons from newspaper insert
- SS – Smart Source – coupons from newspaper insert
- P&G(or PG) – Proctor and Gamble – coupons from newspaper insert (once monthly)
- Stacking – Using a store coupon AND manufacturer coupon for one item
- TMF – Try Me Free – Usually means you will send in a rebate form and get a set amount of money back. *Be sure NOT to buy more than one TMF or rebate item per transaction as you will need to send in the original cash register receipt with rebate form
- $1/1 ; $2/1 – Coupon for $1 off of 1 item ; $2.00 off 1 item, etc
- $2/$5; $3/$15 – Coupon for $2 off a $5 purchase, $3 off a $15 purchase, etc
- WYB – When You Buy – for example, $4 wyb 2 means “If you buy 2 of the item, then the total is $4?
